The city stretches across 117 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea in northeast Italy. The saltwater lagoon stretches along the shoreline between the mouths of the Po (south) and the Piave (north) Rivers. While Piazza San Marco (Saint Mark's Square) is a must-see, as it is where you'll find Saint Mark's Basilica as well as sidewalk cafes where you can rest and take advantage of the photo ops of both the architecture and the sea. The other activities that you can do in Venice are are walking across the Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto), which is the Grand Canal's main bridge, and taking a stroll along the Riva degli Schiavoni, which will lead you to the Bridge of Sighs (Ponte dei Sospiri).
