The unique sculpture park is the life work of the sculptor Gustav Vigeland (1869-1943) with more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and cast iron. Vigelandsparken is one of Norway's most visited attractions with more than 1 million visitors every year.
2. The Oslo Fjord
The Oslofjord is not a fjord in the geological sense - in Norwegian the term "fjord" can refer to a wide range of waterways. The bay is divided into the inner (indre) and outer (ytre) Oslofjord at the point of the 17 km long and narrow Drobaksundet. In the summer there are boats of all sizes on the fjord, and it is possible to go kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and sailing. There are many activities for both adults and children.
3. Oslo Opera House
The Oslo Opera House is situated in the Bjorvika neighborhood of central Oslo, at the head of the Oslofjord. From the outside, the most striking feature is the white sloping marble roof which rises directly up from the Oslofjord, allowing visitors to enjoy a stroll and take in views of the city. 4. Akershus Fortress
Akershus Fortress or Akershus Castle is a medieval castle that was built to protect Oslo. It has also been used as a prison. Akershus Fortress, located in the city centre by the Oslo Fjord, is a great place to discover Oslo's history and a beautiful place to enjoy a summer day. Akershus fortress is still a military area, but is open to the public daily until 21:00. In addition to the castle, the Norwegian Armed Forces Museum and the Norwegian Resistance Museum can be visited there.
5. Holmenkollen
Holmenkollen, the area has been a ski recreation area since the late 19th century. Holmenkollen is the hill you see on the north western side of Oslo, and here you’ll find one of the most popular recreational areas in the city; Nordmarka. Especially Tryvann and Frognerseteren are great starting points for hikes and trips summer and winter alike.
